Coventry complete Yann Gboho signing after FIFA ratification
Coventry City have completed the permanent signing of Toulouse winger Yann Gboho after FIFA ratified paperwork submitted before the transfer deadline. The move remains subject to UK visa approval.

Coventry City have completed the permanent signing of Yann Gboho from Toulouse, adding the 25-year-old winger to Frank Lampard’s squad after an administrative delay beyond the transfer deadline. BBC Sport reported that the agreement was reached and submitted to the Premier League before Tuesday’s deadline, with FIFA subsequently ratifying the move. The transfer remains subject to UK visa approval.

Watch the highlights:

The signing was announced by both clubs on Friday. Toulouse described Gboho’s departure as a transfer to the newly promoted Premier League side, while Coventry did not disclose a fee. That leaves the financial terms unconfirmed, but the completion gives Lampard another attacking option after Coventry’s return to England’s top flight.

Toulouse said Gboho made 89 appearances during two and a half seasons with the French club, scoring 19 goals and providing 12 assists. He joined Toulouse in January 2024 and produced his most productive campaign in 2025-26, recording 10 goals and three assists in 35 matches, according to the club’s departure statement.

The French side also credited Gboho with finishing the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season as the competition’s leading dribbler. Toulouse highlighted his one-on-one ability and creativity in advanced areas, qualities Coventry will be looking to add as they adjust to Premier League opposition following promotion.

Gboho began his professional career at Rennes and later spent time on loan with Vitesse Arnhem before joining Cercle Brugge. BBC Sport reported that he was born in Ivory Coast and represented France at youth level. His move to England represents the latest step in a career that has already taken him through France, the Netherlands and Belgium.

BBC Sport identified Gboho as Coventry’s 12th signing of the summer and reported that the club’s spending has exceeded £100 million during the window. The Sky Blues lost their opening two league matches and are due to visit Manchester City on Saturday. Whether Gboho can be involved will depend on the remaining visa process, so his immediate availability has not yet been confirmed.
