Coventry City Sign Sidiki Cherif From Fenerbahce
Coventry City have signed 19-year-old forward Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce on a long-term contract. The Guinea-born player scored twice in 12 Turkish top-flight appearances last season.

Coventry City have completed the signing of 19-year-old forward Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce on a long-term contract. Coventry announced the move on Wednesday, while Fenerbahce confirmed that the clubs had reached an agreement for the player’s transfer.

Watch the highlights:

BBC Sport reported that Cherif arrives after scoring two goals in 12 appearances in Turkey’s top division last season. Match records compiled by FBref show that he played 647 minutes across those league appearances, giving Coventry a young attacking option with recent experience in the Turkish Super Lig.

Cherif was born on December 15, 2006, and is listed by both UEFA and the Turkish Football Federation as a Guinea international player. UEFA identifies him as a forward. He also appeared briefly for Fenerbahce in Champions League qualifying during the current campaign, playing three minutes across one match, according to UEFA’s competition statistics.

The move follows a season in which Cherif featured in two major European domestic leagues. FBref records 19 Ligue 1 appearances and four goals for Angers during the 2025-26 campaign, along with his 12 Super Lig appearances for Fenerbahce. He also played twice in the Europa League for the Istanbul club, accumulating 165 minutes in that competition.

Fenerbahce said in its departure announcement that Cherif had joined the club during the mid-season break last season. The Turkish federation’s registration record lists his Fenerbahce contract as beginning on February 1, 2026. The club thanked him for his contribution and wished him success in the next stage of his career.

Coventry did not specify the exact length of the contract in the announcement headline and described the agreement as long-term. No transfer value was confirmed in the official material reviewed. The completed deal gives Cherif a move to English football only months after leaving Angers for Turkey, with his new club securing a player who has already appeared in Ligue 1, the Super Lig and European competition before his 20th birthday.
