Chelsea former captain John Terry expresses concern after Enzo Maresca appointment turmoil
John Terry has voiced serious concerns about Chelsea's direction following the club's latest managerial change, with the Blues legend worried about the direction of his former club.

John Terry, who served as Chelsea captain for over a decade, has expressed deep concern about the club's current state after what sources describe as a turbulent period at Stamford Bridge. The former England defender, who won multiple Premier League titles and a Champions League with the Blues, has been monitoring events at his former club with growing unease.

Watch the highlights:

Speaking to media on Wednesday, Terry stated: "I've been worried about Chelsea for a while now. The decisions being made at the top level don't seem to follow any clear plan. You look at what used to make this club special and it's hard to see that identity right now."

The situation comes amid reports of internal upheaval at the club, with sources suggesting instability in the boardroom has contributed to the lack of on-field consistency. Chelsea have struggled to find stability since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took ownership in 2022, cycling through multiple managers and spending heavily without achieving expected results.

Terry, who made over 450 appearances for Chelsea between 2001 and 2017, emphasized the importance of club culture: "Chelsea was always about winning. About having characters in that dressing room who would die for the shirt. That mentality has to come from somewhere at the top. When decisions are made that seem to ignore that, it's natural to worry."

The 39-year-old, who now manages Aston Villa's youth academy, remains connected to the club's fanbase and has been vocal about wanting to see Chelsea return to their successful ways. His comments reflect broader concerns among former players and supporters about the direction of the club under its new ownership structure.

Chelsea currently sit mid-table in the Premier League with questions mounting about their strategic vision heading into the summer transfer window. The club has yet to respond publicly to Terry's comments.
