Chelsea Captain Millie Bright Retires From Football
Millie Bright, captain of Chelsea Women and former England defender, has announced her retirement from football with immediate effect. The 32-year-old cited injury as the reason for her decision to bring her career to a close.

Bright joined Chelsea in 2017 and became club captain, helping the Blues win multiple FA WSL titles and domestic cups. She earned over 70 caps for England, representing her country at two European Championships and two World Cups. Her leadership was instrumental in England's run to the Euro 2022 final.
The announcement marks the end of a distinguished career that also included spells at Arsenal and Lyon before joining Chelsea. Bright was widely regarded as one of the best defenders in women's football, known for her physical presence and tactical awareness.
Chelsea have yet to announce who will take over the captain's armband. The club currently sit second in the FA WSL table with two games remaining this season.
