Alex Apodaca Upsets Bella Mir as Five Fighters Earn UFC Contracts

Alex Apodaca defeated Bella Mir by unanimous decision in the main event of Dana White's Contender Series Season 10, Week 3 on Tuesday in Las Vegas. All three judges scored the women's bantamweight fight 29-28 for Apodaca after the bout went the full three rounds at the Meta APEX.

The UFC's official account of the fight said Apodaca switched stances, defended Mir's takedown attempts and stayed out of submission danger during grappling exchanges. It also reported that Apodaca increasingly mixed attacks to the head and body as the contest progressed. Mir attempted a late submission, but Apodaca defended it and remained active through the closing seconds.

Mir entered the event unbeaten in four professional mixed martial arts fights. MMA Fighting reported that the daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir had won three of those contests by submission. The same report noted that Mir had won an NCAA wrestling national championship at 145 pounds in 2026 and had previously become the first college athlete to receive a UFC name, image and likeness sponsorship.

Apodaca's victory was one of five wins on the card, and Sherdog reported that every winner received a UFC contract. Heavyweight Guilherme Uriel submitted Mario Piazzon with a standing guillotine choke 50 seconds into the first round, securing a quick finish in his second appearance on the Contender Series.

Sean Clancy Jr. stopped Gary Balletto with strikes at 3:54 of the second round in their welterweight contest. Ronald Humphrey submitted Alexis Miranda with a rear-naked choke at 4:03 of the opening round, while Nick Galanti knocked out Carlos Petruzzella with punches just 35 seconds into their middleweight bout. Those results were listed by MMA Fighting and the UFC.

The outcome moved Apodaca to the next stage of her career after she entered the matchup on a three-fight winning streak. For Mir, the decision was her first professional defeat. The result also meant that Clancy, Uriel, Humphrey and Galanti joined Apodaca among the five contract recipients from the third week of the season.
