Aryna Sabalenka Claims Miami Open Title with Straight-Set Victory Over Elena Rybakina in Final
The Belarusian world No. 2 dominated the final 6-3, 6-2 to capture her first Miami Open championship and third WTA 1000 title of the season.

Aryna Sabalenka capped off a dominant two weeks in South Florida by claiming her first Miami Open title on Friday evening, defeating Elena Rybakina 6-3, 6-2 in a one-sided final at Hard Rock Stadium that showcased why the Belarusian is widely considered the most improved player on the WTA Tour over the past 18 months.

The world No. 2 was in complete control from the opening game, using her devastating serve and aggressive baseline game to overwhelm the Kazakhstani challenger. Sabalenka won 78% of her first-serve points and broke Rybakina's serve five times while dropping her own service just once in a clinical 87-minute performance that left no doubt about the identity of the superior player.

"This feels incredible," Sabalenka said while holding the Butch Buchholz Trophy. "Miami has always been a special tournament for me, and to finally break through here means everything. I felt like I played some of my best tennis this week, especially in the final when the pressure was highest. Elena is an amazing player, but today was my day."

Sabalenka took control of the match early by breaking Rybakina in the fourth game of the opening set, then consolidated the break with a dominant service game that featured two aces and a service winner. The 25-year-old from Minsk never looked back, using her superior court position and shot selection to dictate play throughout the contest while limiting Rybakina's opportunities to unleash her powerful groundstrokes.

Rybakina, who had been seeking her first Miami Open title and fourth WTA 1000 crown overall, struggled to find her rhythm against Sabalenka's relentless pressure. The 2022 Wimbledon champion managed just 12 winners compared to 23 unforced errors and was unable to create consistent break-point opportunities despite some spirited resistance in both sets.

The victory represents Sabalenka's third WTA 1000 title of the 2026 season, following triumphs at the Qatar Open and Indian Wells. Her remarkable consistency at the highest level has established her as the clear second-best player in women's tennis behind world No. 1 Iga Swiatek and positions her as a serious threat to win her first French Open title when the clay court season begins next month.

With this Miami Open championship, Sabalenka extends her current winning streak to 12 matches and improves her head-to-head record against top-10 opponents to an impressive 18-4 this season. The confidence gained from this victory, combined with her improved mental strength and tactical awareness, suggests that Sabalenka is ready to challenge for the world No. 1 ranking and establish herself as the dominant force in women's tennis for years to come.
