Casandra Alexander Wins Women's Irish Open by Three Shots

Casandra Alexander won the Women's Irish Open at the K Club by three strokes, completing the tournament on 20 under par. BBC Sport reported that the 27-year-old South African held off the chasing field in County Kildare to earn the second Ladies European Tour title of her career and extend her advantage at the top of the tour's Order of Merit.

Alexander entered the final day as the leader, with Ireland's Leona Maguire among those pursuing her after a third-round 63. The home favorite could not complete the comeback, closing with a 68 to finish on 15 under. That score left Maguire level with Sweden's Louise Rydqvist and five strokes behind Alexander.

Sara Kouskova of the Czech Republic took second place at 17 under, one shot ahead of Finland's Noora Komulainen. Maguire and Rydqvist were next at 15 under, while a five-player group shared the following position on 13 under. That group comprised Australia's Amelia Garvey, Sweden's Cayetana Viden, Kajsa Arwefjaell and Moa Folke, and Singapore's Shannon Tan.

The victory followed four runner-up finishes for Alexander during the season. Her previous Ladies European Tour success came at the 2025 Czech Open. Speaking to Sky Sports after the Irish Open, Alexander said the Order of Merit remained her leading goal and described tournament victories as the strongest route toward achieving it.

Maguire's finish matched the best result by an Irish golfer at the home event, according to BBC Sport. Her challenge had been slowed by an earlier round before Saturday's 63 moved her back into contention. She finished the week with two low rounds and a total of 15 under, although Alexander retained sufficient separation to secure the trophy.

The result also completed Maguire's final tournament before she turns her attention to the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands. The 31-year-old was selected as a wildcard by European captain Anna Nordqvist. Alexander, meanwhile, leaves the K Club with another title added to a season that had already placed her at the head of the Ladies European Tour's points standings.
