Carlos Baleba to Miss Manchester United's Ipswich Match

Carlos Baleba will not make his Manchester United debut against Ipswich on Sunday after arriving at the club with an ankle injury. The Guardian reported that the midfielder, signed from Brighton on Tuesday for £70m, could be unavailable for three weeks or longer as United prepare for their first home league game of the season.

The possible recovery schedule could delay Baleba's debut until Tottenham visit after the international break on 10 October. United had monitored the Cameroon international since last summer before completing a deal for the 22-year-old late in the transfer window. Manager Michael Carrick said the process required patience because the club wanted players who suited the group and could move the team forward.

Baleba's absence comes after United opened their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 defeat at promoted Hull City. Both goals came from set plays, and the result prompted questions about the team's leadership and intensity.
