Can Tottenham's First Premier League Win of 2026 Be a Turning Point Amid West Ham and Nottingham Forest Victories?
Tottenham secured their first Premier League victory of 2026, but questions remain about whether it can spark a survival push as they remain deep in the relegation zone.

Tottenham Hotspur finally recorded their first Premier League win of 2026 on Saturday, defeating Wolves 2-1 at Molineux thanks to a decisive goal from Pedro Porro. However, the victory has done little to ease concerns about their precarious position in the relegation zone, leaving fans and management questioning whether this can truly be a turning point.

Watch the highlights:

The match saw Tottenham take an early lead through Son Heung-min before Wolves equalized through a controversial penalty. It was substitute Porro who struck the winner in the 78th minute, securing three points that moved Spurs off the bottom of the table but still left them three points from safety with six games remaining.

Manager Ange Postecoglou acknowledged the importance of the win but warned against reading too much into a single result. "We needed that win desperately, but we can't get carried away," Postecoglou said. "There are still many games to play, and we need to build momentum. The players showed character today, but we must maintain this level consistently."

The victory comes amid strong performances from fellow London rivals West Ham and Nottingham Forest, who both secured crucial wins in the battle against relegation. West Ham's dramatic late victory over Everton and Forest's comprehensive win over Sunderland have added further pressure to Tottenham's survival mission.

Former Tottenham defender Gary Mabbutt expressed concern about the team's mentality: "This win is crucial for confidence, but Tottenham cannot rely on one performance. They need to show this same hunger and quality in every remaining match. The margin for error is virtually non-existent now."

Tottenham face Arsenal in their next fixture before fixtures against Manchester United and Liverpool. With the club's Premier League future hanging in the balance, the pressure on Postecoglou and his squad intensifies with each passing matchday.
