Falkirk improved after the interval and were rewarded in the 72nd minute when Celtic defender Colby Donovan put the ball into his own net. The goal narrowed the margin, but Celtic held on to secure all three points and preserve their flawless domestic record at this early stage of the campaign.

The result came after a difficult European setback for Celtic. According to the same report, the club had failed to qualify for the Champions League following a 5-1 defeat by LASK on Thursday, having previously held a four-goal aggregate lead in the tie. That disappointment shaped the atmosphere before Saturday's league match.

Sections of the Celtic support displayed banners criticizing the club's board and its stated ambition to be world class. The protest referenced teams that have eliminated Celtic from Champions League qualifying over the past 14 years. During the match, however, supporters backed the players, while a chant calling for the board to be removed did not spread widely around the stadium.

Duran's early contribution ultimately separated the sides and allowed Celtic to respond to their European elimination with a league victory. Falkirk's stronger second-half showing made the contest tighter, but the hosts' first-half advantage proved enough as they continued their winning domestic start.
