Caluori returns with a try as Saracens beat Bristol 30-7
Saracens handed Bristol Bears their first defeat of the 2026-27 Premiership season with a 30-7 bonus-point victory at StoneX Stadium. Noah Caluori scored on his return from wrist surgery, while Alex O'Driscoll, Jack Bracken and a penalty try completed the home side's scoring, BBC Sport reported. The result gave Saracens their second league win of the campaign.
Watch the highlights:
Caluori needed only four minutes to mark his first appearance of the season with a try. After Saracens won possession from Bristol in midfield, they shifted the ball towards the wing, who finished in the corner with one hand. He had missed the opening two matches while recovering from surgery, following a breakthrough season in which he scored 18 tries.
Owen Farrell extended the advantage with a penalty before Saracens had Olamide Sodeke sent to the sin-bin for a head-on-head tackle on George Taylor. Bristol could not score during their spell with an extra player, and Farrell's second penalty made it 11-0. The visitors threatened before half-time, but Bracken intercepted Sam Worsley's pass to prevent a potential finish for Louis Rees-Zammit in the corner.
Bristol eventually found a response after the interval. Luka Ivanishvili was forced into touch close to the line before Harry Randall combined with Aidan Boshoff down the left to score. With the conversion, the Bears reduced the deficit to four points. Saracens answered through replacement prop O'Driscoll, whose first Premiership try restored an 11-point advantage and halted Bristol's attempt to close the gap.
The hosts pulled further clear after Lovejoy Chawatama was sin-binned for bringing down a driving maul, an offence that also brought a penalty try. Bracken then beat two defenders to score in the corner and secure the try bonus point. Bristol have now gone without a victory on all eight of their Premiership visits to StoneX Stadium since reaching the top flight.
Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, Bears director of rugby Pat Lam credited his players' physical commitment and defensive work but identified attacking execution as the central problem. He pointed to handling errors and missed opportunities, including the chance shortly before half-time, and said his side had not shown the precision needed to take their chances at Saracens.
