Swansea beat Burnley 3-1 to reclaim second place in Championship

Swansea City moved back into second place in the Championship with a 3-1 home win over Burnley on Saturday, leaving the visitors bottom of the table. According to BBC Sport's match report, goals from Adam Idah, Moussa Yeo and substitute Zan Vipotnik secured the result, with Swansea behind leaders West Ham on goal difference.

The victory followed Swansea's first league defeat of the season, at Southampton in midweek. Vitor Matos' side established a two-goal advantage before half-time, capitalising on mistakes from Burnley to regain momentum. For the Clarets, the result extended their winless league start following last season's relegation from the Premier League and left them without a point from four away Championship matches.

Idah opened the scoring after chasing a quick clearance from Swansea goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux. A poor touch from Max Weiss let the striker take the ball and finish into an unguarded net. The second goal also began with a Burnley error: Elijah Just intercepted Ugo Raghouber's pass, then found Yeo in Swansea's half. Yeo carried the ball forward before sending a low shot into the corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Burnley had chances to make the first half more competitive despite those costly mistakes. Zeki Amdouni and Oliver Sonne each missed the target when through on goal, while Vigouroux pushed Aaron Ramsey's effort from distance against the crossbar. Swansea also threatened to extend their advantage before the interval, with an Idah shot deflecting against a post.

Largie Ramazani reduced the deficit after the break, getting beyond Swansea's defensive line and finishing inside Vigouroux's near post. That goal brought Burnley back within one, but Vipotnik restored the two-goal margin. The substitute converted Ronald's pass to complete the scoring and ensure Swansea took all three points.

Speaking after the match, Matos said Swansea had shown they could compete with every opponent in the division, BBC Sport reported. He linked that belief to producing the right performance on the day, while acknowledging that doing so consistently was not guaranteed. The head coach also said he did not know Swansea's position in the table after the win.
