Harborough Town sign Kyle Hudlin after striker returns from Vietnam
Harborough Town have signed Kyle Hudlin, adding the former Huddersfield Town striker to their National League North squad after his spell in Vietnam. BBC Sport reported that the 26-year-old, who stands 6ft 9in, is available for Saturday’s FA Cup first-round match away to League One side Leyton Orient.
Watch the highlights:
Hudlin most recently played for Nam Dinh in Vietnam’s top division and was a free agent before joining the Leicestershire club. Harborough manager Mitch Austin said the forward would strengthen his attacking options. Speaking to the club website in comments carried by the BBC, Austin also highlighted the personal impression Hudlin made when they met.
The manager’s interest dates back to Hudlin’s time at Solihull Moors. Austin recalled watching him score in the 2022 National League play-off final at the London Stadium and said he had followed his career since. The two met through a mutual friend a few months ago, and Austin became interested in a deal after learning the striker was available.
Birmingham-born Hudlin scored 17 goals in 69 appearances for Solihull, including the opening goal in that promotion final. He joined Huddersfield in the summer of 2022 and gained Championship experience there. His time with the Terriers also included loan spells at AFC Wimbledon, Burton Albion and Newport County before he left the club in July 2025.
His arrival continues Harborough’s recruitment of players with English Football League experience in recent months. Former Wigan Athletic winger Michael Jacobs has already joined the Bees, along with Britt Assombalonga, whose previous clubs include Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest. Hudlin brings another EFL background to the squad, as well as his more recent experience in Vietnamese football.
Harborough last appeared at this stage of the FA Cup during the 2024-25 season, when their run ended against Reading in the second round. They now travel to Leyton Orient with their new striker available for selection. The signing gives Austin an additional forward option for that tie.
