Brundle predicts Hamilton can still take wins with big Ferrari step forward
Martin Brundle, the former Formula 1 driver and renowned television analyst, has predicted that Lewis Hamilton can still take race wins in Formula 1, anticipating that Ferrari will make a significant step forward that could return the iconic team to competitiveness.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Brundle expressed confidence that Hamilton's move to Ferrari at the end of this season could prove to be a masterstroke, despite concerns from some quarters about the British driver's age. Hamilton, who turns 41 later this year, showed no signs of slowing down last season, adding several more victories to his remarkable record.
"Lewis is still performing at an incredibly high level," Brundle stated. "The idea that he's past his best is wide of the mark. He's lost nothing in terms of his hunger, his skill, or his ability to extract maximum performance from a car. I expect Ferrari to make a big step forward, and when they do, Hamilton will be ready to capitalize."
Ferrari has faced a difficult start to the current season, with their SF-25 car struggling for pace and reliability compared to their rivals. However, the Italian team has a history of making significant development strides during the season, and Brundle believes the Scuderia's iconic status and resources make them capable of closing the gap.
"Ferrari is Ferrari," Brundle added. "They have the people, the facilities, and the motivation to turn things around. The step they make with their car development could be exactly what Hamilton needs to add to his incredible tally. Seven world championships speak for themselves, but I genuinely believe there are more wins in him."
Hamilton's move to Ferrari represents one of the most significant driver transfers in F1 history, ending his successful partnership with Mercedes. The combination of Hamilton's experience and winning mentality with Ferrari's passionate heritage has generated enormous excitement ahead of the 2027 season, when the new regulations come into effect.
