Brighton Sign Chema Andres From Stuttgart in £15.5m Deal
Brighton have signed Spain Under-21 midfielder Chema Andres from Stuttgart for £15.5 million on a five-year contract. The 21-year-old arrives after helping Stuttgart qualify for the Champions League.

Brighton have signed midfielder Chema Andres from Stuttgart in a transfer worth £15.5 million, according to BBC Sport. The 21-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League club after the two sides completed the deal on transfer deadline day.

Watch the highlights:

Andres arrives as a Spain Under-21 international and a player with experience in both La Liga and the Bundesliga. He developed in Real Madrid's youth system before making his Spanish top-flight debut in January 2025, then moved to Stuttgart later that year.

The defensive midfielder made 41 appearances for Stuttgart last season. During his single campaign with the German club, he helped the team secure qualification for the Champions League, giving Brighton a young addition who has already played a substantial senior role.

BBC Sport also reported that Brighton have agreed a separate deal to recruit Nigeria winger Femi Azeez from Millwall. That move was described as an initial £12.5 million agreement that could rise beyond £15 million through add-ons. Azeez scored 11 goals and supplied eight assists in 37 matches last season, performances that earned him selection in the PFA Championship team of the year.

Millwall had rejected at least three Brighton bids for Azeez in recent weeks, the report said. If his transfer is completed, it would represent a club-record sale for Millwall. The 25-year-old joined the Championship side from Reading for about £1 million in 2024 and had entered the final two years of his contract. His expected arrival would also enable Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry, who has signed a new contract, to depart on loan.

Azeez would become Brighton's 11th signing of the summer. Their other business includes a club-record £45 million move for Tottenham centre-back Luka Vuskovic, while the club have also brought in significant income from sales, including Carlos Baleba's £70 million transfer to Manchester United. The confirmed Andres signing adds another young player to Brighton's deadline-day recruitment, with his five-year agreement giving the club a long-term midfield option.
