Brewers beat Phillies 4-1 to move within one win of 100

The Milwaukee Brewers earned their 99th victory of the season on Wednesday, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 behind home runs from Brice Turang and Christian Yelich. According to Field Level Media, the result extended Milwaukee's franchise record for wins and left the club one victory from its first 100-win season.

Milwaukee improved to 99-59, with four games remaining, while Philadelphia fell to 87-71. Field Level Media reported that the Phillies entered the evening with a magic number of two to secure a wild-card place. Their offense finished without a hit in 12 at-bats with runners in scoring position, leaving 10 men on base.

Turang opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning, his 20th of the season. Yelich added his 12th in the second before Philadelphia pulled a run back through J.T. Realmuto's groundout. William Contreras then drove in two runs with a third-inning single, establishing the three-run margin that remained in place for the rest of the game.

Logan Henderson earned the win after allowing one run and four hits across five innings. He walked three and struck out three, improving his record to 11-3. DL Hall followed with two scoreless innings, and Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill worked one inning apiece without allowing a run. Megill finished with his 30th save.

Aaron Nola took the loss despite striking out eight in six innings. All four Milwaukee runs were charged to him, along with four hits and one walk. Philadelphia's bullpen added three scoreless innings, preventing Milwaukee from extending its lead after Nola's departure. Neither team scored after the third inning. Both teams finished with six hits, but the Brewers turned theirs into four runs.

Field Level Media reported that Henderson escaped a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the second inning with only one run conceded. Philadelphia continued creating opportunities, including a two-out double by Bryan De La Cruz in the eighth. Uribe responded by striking out Realmuto, preserving Milwaukee's lead before Megill retired all three batters in the ninth.
