Brazil rally past Australia for 4-2 friendly win in Brisbane

Brazil recovered from a first-half deficit to beat Australia 4-2 in their international friendly at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Tuesday. The Socceroos' official match report recorded a crowd of 52,423 as the visitors followed Friday's draw with a victory over the same opponents.

Vanderson gave Brazil an early advantage, finishing a passing move with a shot beyond Patrick Beach. The Australia goalkeeper then prevented the visitors from quickly extending their lead, stopping Raphinha's initial attempt and the follow-up. Those saves kept the hosts within one goal before they produced two goals of their own to turn the match around.

Alessandro Circati equalised from a corner, with a video review overturning the initial offside decision. Connor Metcalfe then put Australia ahead with a strike from outside the penalty area. AS also reported the reversal, describing how Brazil's early advantage disappeared as the home side found a way through twice.

Raphinha brought Brazil level from the penalty spot before the interval after Harry Souttar fouled Danilo. The goalscorer did not return for the second half, with Endrick replacing him. In a separate report, AS said the Brazilian federation had confirmed discomfort in Raphinha's right thigh; the report did not establish a recovery timetable.

Endrick subsequently helped create the decisive breakthrough, playing the ball across goal for Bruno Guimarães to finish and restore Brazil's lead. Vinícius Júnior then won and converted another penalty to make it 4-2. According to the Socceroos' report, Australia later introduced Marcus Younis, Aiden O'Neill and Jason Geria together, before Nishan Velupillay and Patrick Yazbek also entered.

The result completed a two-match sequence that began with a 1-1 draw in Townsville. Australia's official account of that first meeting recorded Nestory Irankunda's free-kick opener in the second half and Rayan's stoppage-time headed equaliser from a Raphinha set piece. Younis made his senior international debut in that game. Australia had therefore led in both encounters, but Brazil recovered on each occasion, drawing the first and winning the second.
