Boyd: Rangers Must Beat Hearts or Season Is Over After Motherwell Slip
Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has delivered a stark warning to his old club, insisting they must defeat Hearts on Wednesday or accept that their Scottish Premiership title hopes are finished for another season.
Rangers suffered a significant blow to their title chances when they could only draw 2-2 with Motherwell at Fir Park, allowing Celtic to extend their advantage at the summit. The result leaves Philippe Clement's side four points behind their city rivals with a game in hand still to play.
"If Rangers don't beat Hearts, they might as well hand Celtic the trophy now," Boyd declared on Sky Sports. "There's no room for error anymore. Every remaining match is a must-win situation, and they know it."
Rangers twice came from behind at Fir Park, with James Tavernier and Rabbi Matondo finding the net, but were unable to find a winner despite controlling large portions of the match. Motherwell's Stuart McKirdy and Albion R老板 cancelled out their efforts.
The pressure is now firmly on Rangers as they prepare for the crucial Tynecastle encounter. Hearts, meanwhile, claimed a dramatic derby victory over nine-man Hibs on Tuesday, moving three points clear in third place and carrying significant momentum into the fixture.
Clement acknowledged the importance of the Hearts clash but urged his players to block out external pressure. "We control our own destiny," the Belgian coach stated. "Win all our games, and we win the league. Simple as that."
