Bournemouth fight back at Sparta Prague to claim fourth Europa League win
Bournemouth came from behind to beat 10-man Sparta Prague 3-1 on Thursday, extending their winning run to seven competitive matches. Eurofotbal's match report recorded a second-half turnaround after the visitors had missed a penalty and fallen behind before the interval. The result kept the English club unbeaten in this season's Europa League.
Watch the highlights:
Sparta threatened early through Jonatan Braut Brunes but then handed Bournemouth an opportunity when Ki-Jana Hoever handled inside the penalty area. Lewis Cook struck a post from the spot. The hosts capitalised in the 35th minute, when Ebrima Singhateh collected a ball from goalkeeper Jakub Surovcik and carried it forward before beating Michele Di Gregorio with a low finish.
Sparta's advantage was quickly undermined by Tobias Guddal's dismissal. The defender received his second yellow card two minutes after Singhateh scored, leaving the home side to protect their lead with 10 players. They reached half-time ahead, but Bournemouth took control after the restart. Eurofotbal reported that a defensive mistake by Loic Mbe Soh preceded Tyler Adams's equaliser in the 57th minute.
Adams had entered at half-time in place of Adam Smith, according to Claro Sports. Marco Rose made further changes after the equaliser, introducing Evanilson, Marcus Tavernier and Adrien Truffert in the 60th minute. Surovcik continued to frustrate the visitors, saving efforts from David Brooks and James Hill, while Di Gregorio stopped a header from Mbe Soh at the other end.
The decisive goal arrived in the 81st minute. Claro Sports reported that Ryan Christie supplied Evanilson, who finished across Surovcik from the left side of the penalty area. Rayan, another substitute, then added Bournemouth's third in the 90th minute with a left-footed shot from outside the box after an assist from Evanilson.
Bournemouth now have four wins and 12 points from four league-phase matches. Claro Sports listed their previous European victories as wins over Real Sociedad, Sturm Graz and Milan. Their next Europa League assignment is away to Celta Vigo on November 26, with the victory in Prague preserving their perfect start to the competition.
