Bournemouth rally in Prague as Joseph double sinks Milan
Bournemouth overturned a half-time deficit to beat Sparta Prague 3-1 on Thursday, while Ferencvaros won 2-0 at Milan in the Europa League. The Guardian reported that both winning sides maintained perfect records after four matches. The results came despite early frustration for Bournemouth and a second-half sending-off for the Hungarian visitors at San Siro.
Watch the highlights:
According to Eurofotbal’s match report, Sparta survived a penalty awarded for Ki-Jana Hoever’s handball when Lewis Cook struck the right post. Ebrima Singhateh then put the hosts ahead in the 35th minute, carrying the ball forward from his own half before finishing low. Two minutes later, Tobias Guddal received a second yellow card, leaving Sparta to defend their advantage with 10 players.
Sparta reached the interval in front, but Tyler Adams equalised in the 57th minute after a defensive mistake. Goalkeeper Jakub Surovcik subsequently denied David Brooks before Evanilson scored in the 81st minute to complete the turnaround. Rayan added Bournemouth’s third in the 90th minute with a shot from outside the penalty area, sealing a win that had remained in doubt deep into the second half.
At San Siro, Joseph’s goals in the 52nd and 66th minutes handed Milan their third defeat in four European matches, Football Italia reported. Lorenzo Torriani started in goal with Mike Maignan suspended. Torriani made several first-half saves as Ferencvaros created the better openings, while Milan created few clear opportunities before the break.
Milan coach Ruben Amorim introduced Christian Pulisic, Diego Moreira and Mario Gila at half-time. The changes did not prevent Joseph from opening the scoring after Torriani’s heavy touch allowed Kristoffer Zachariassen to challenge for the ball. Joseph later doubled the lead when Zachariassen led a counterattack and supplied him with a close-range finish.
Ferencvaros finished with 10 men after Bamidele Yusuf was dismissed in the 77th minute following a VAR review of an off-the-ball elbow involving Gila. Milan could not capitalise: Denes Dibusz saved a low Omari Hutchinson effort, and the visitors retained their two-goal advantage through the final whistle.
