Bournemouth hold off Ipswich 2-1 for eighth consecutive win
Evanilson scored and Leif Davis conceded an own goal as Bournemouth survived a late Ipswich response at Portman Road.

Bournemouth won 2-1 at Ipswich Town on Sunday to extend their winning sequence to eight matches in all competitions. Evanilson opened the scoring at Portman Road before a Leif Davis own goal doubled the lead. Jack Clarke's penalty brought Ipswich back into contention, but the visitors held on for the three points.

Flashscore reported that the result was Bournemouth's fourth successive Premier League victory, a run they had not achieved within a single season since December 2023. Marco Rose's side had started the league campaign with three draws and three defeats. The latest win also extended their unbeaten sequence in league visits to Portman Road to five matches.

The opening goal came in the fifth minute after Christian Walton received a back-pass from Dara O'Shea. According to Ipswich news outlet TWTD, the goalkeeper turned inside while trying to play out and lost possession to Evanilson, who finished off the inside of the post. Walton then prevented a second goal by saving Marcus Tavernier's attempt after Rayan advanced down the right.

Ipswich conceded again just 27 seconds into the second half. TWTD reported that a misplaced Abdoul Ouattara pass started the move, with the ball eventually reaching Ryan Christie. His shot struck Issa Diop and Davis before going in, with the goal recorded against Davis. Bournemouth subsequently missed another opportunity when James Hill headed over from Evanilson's delivery.

Clarke reduced the deficit from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute after Ouattara was fouled inside the area. TWTD identified Bournemouth substitute Lewis Cook as the player who conceded the penalty. The conversion left Ipswich chasing one more goal, and Julio Enciso later threatened with two free-kicks, but neither produced an equaliser during the closing stages.

Flashscore's post-match report placed Bournemouth seventh and Ipswich 14th, separated by four points. Ipswich's winless league run now stands at four matches, comprising two draws and two defeats. For Bournemouth, the result also ended a six-match league sequence without victory against newly promoted opposition, adding another improvement to their recent turnaround in results.
