Bohannon ends century wait as Lancashire fight back against Durham

Josh Bohannon finished unbeaten on 125 as Lancashire reached 267-5 against Durham on the third day of their County Championship Division Two match at Emirates Old Trafford. They remained 226 runs behind, but his first century since June 2025 gave the hosts a much-needed recovery, according to BBC Sport's ECB Reporters' Network report.

Lancashire had slipped to 87-4 before Bohannon and Matthew Hurst added 161. Hurst made 57, while Bohannon reached his hundred from 217 balls. Their partnership helped Lancashire earn their first batting bonus point since May and provided resistance after another difficult start with the bat.

Callum Parkinson returned 3-63 from 37 overs, including the dismissal of Hurst, before Ben Walkden joined Bohannon to see out the day. Lancashire's innings was still unfinished at the close: the stand had repaired much of the early damage without erasing Durham's substantial first-innings advantage. Bohannon will therefore resume with work still to do rather than a result secured.

Durham's own match report shows how that advantage was assembled over the opening two days. Emilio Gay scored 141, sharing a second-wicket partnership of 114 with Ben McKinney and then adding 168 alongside Mayank Agarwal. Gay's innings was his fourth Championship century in ten innings this season, helping a side that had already won the Division Two title establish control early.

The visitors reached 355-5 on the first evening and extended their total to 493 on Friday. Ollie Robinson and Brydon Carse each contributed 58, with Carse unbeaten when the innings ended. Noman Ali claimed 6-166 for Lancashire, taking his first five-wicket haul for the county in his fifth appearance, Durham reported.

Weather also shaped Lancashire's task. Rain and poor light restricted Friday's play to 58.3 overs, and the hosts managed only nine overs of their reply before play stopped at 4.15pm. Jennings and Jones had taken them to 10 without loss, leaving most of the response to Durham's imposing total for the remaining two days.
