Bijan Robinson powers Falcons past Packers 35-14 for first win

Atlanta earned its first victory of the NFL season on Thursday, beating Green Bay 35-14 at Lambeau Field behind 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Bijan Robinson. AFP reported that the result ended the Packers' run of home-opening wins, with Green Bay losing that fixture for the first time since 2012.

The Falcons arrived with two defeats and only 16 points from their opening games. According to AFP, they had not taken a single offensive snap in the red zone during those losses. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr returned from injury against Green Bay, recovering from an early interception to throw for 256 yards and one touchdown.

BBC Sport reported that Christian Watson scored the opening touchdown for the Packers before Atlanta put together a run of 27 points without reply. Bijan Robinson, Austin Hooper and Brian Robinson Jr scored touchdowns during that stretch, while Nick Folk contributed two field goals. The visitors had overturned the early deficit and built a commanding advantage.

Green Bay eventually answered through a Matthew Golden touchdown, but Bijan Robinson added his second touchdown later to complete the scoring, according to BBC Sport. Packers coach Matt LaFleur acknowledged the scale of the defeat afterward and said his team needed to respond better. The home crowd booed during the loss.

The statistical contrast was especially stark on the ground. StatMuse's game record lists 29 carries for Bijan Robinson and another 50 rushing yards from Brian Robinson Jr. Atlanta finished with 498 total yards, compared with Green Bay's 328. The Falcons also held possession for 37 minutes and five seconds, against 22 minutes and 55 seconds for the Packers.

Drake London supplied another major contribution for Atlanta, catching nine passes for 194 yards, BBC Sport reported. Green Bay managed only 17 rushing yards on nine attempts. The Packers were missing Micah Parsons and Josh Jacobs and had also lost two offensive linemen to injuries during their previous game against the New York Jets.

Both teams now stand at 1-2. BBC Sport reported that Green Bay's next opponent is Tampa Bay, while Atlanta will visit New Orleans.
