Jannik Sinner Defeats Novak Djokovic in Dubai Semi-Final Epic
World No. 1 Sinner overcomes 24-time Grand Slam champion in three-set thriller to reach Dubai final.

Jannik Sinner proved why he holds the world No. 1 ranking with a stunning 7-6, 3-6, 7-5 victory over Novak Djokovic in the Dubai Tennis Championships semi-final, delivering one of the most compelling matches of the 2026 season so far.

The Italian showed remarkable composure under pressure, saving five match points in the deciding set before converting his own championship opportunity to reach Sunday's final. Sinner's aggressive baseline game proved too much for the 36-year-old Serbian legend in the crucial moments.

The first set was a masterclass in precision tennis, with both players holding serve comfortably until the tiebreak. Sinner took control early in the breaker, racing to a 4-1 lead before closing it out 7-4 with a spectacular forehand winner down the line.

Djokovic responded in typical fashion in the second set, raising his level significantly and breaking Sinner's serve twice. The 24-time Grand Slam champion served with authority and moved Sinner around the court with surgical precision, leveling the match with a 6-3 victory.

The deciding set produced some of the finest tennis seen on the ATP Tour this year. Both players saved multiple break points before Djokovic appeared to seize control, leading 5-4 and serving for the match. However, Sinner broke back with a series of blistering returns and then held his nerve to close out the victory.

The win extends Sinner's remarkable run since winning the Australian Open in January. The 22-year-old will face either Daniil Medvedev or Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday's final as he seeks his second title of the season and continues to establish himself as the sport's new dominant force.
