Bethany England strikes late as Palace beat Charlton in WSL comeback
Bethany England scored a late winner as Crystal Palace beat Charlton 3-2, leaving the visitors without a WSL point. London City Lionesses, Tottenham and Manchester United also won.

Bethany England scored a late winner as Crystal Palace defeated Charlton 3-2 on Sunday, leaving the visitors still searching for their first point in the Women's Super League. According to The Guardian's reporting, Palace ended a seven-match winless sequence and moved three points clear of the relegation play-off position, while Karen Hills's Charlton remained bottom.

Watch the highlights:

The meeting between the two promoted clubs turned several times after the interval. Lexi Lloyd-Smith opened the scoring for Palace, only for Elisha N'Dow and Leah Davidson to score within two minutes of one another and put Charlton ahead. Aimee Everett then equalised before England supplied the decisive goal late in the contest, denying Charlton a result after they had overturned the initial deficit.

London City Lionesses strengthened their position in third with a 4-1 home victory against Birmingham. Poppy Pattinson and Delphine Cascarino scored before half-time to establish a two-goal advantage. Birmingham responded through Océane Hurtré, whose seventh league goal of the campaign left her behind only Khadija Shaw in the WSL scoring standings, but the visitors could not build on that response.

Grace Geyoro, who had assisted Cascarino's goal, restored London City's two-goal cushion with a half-volley before Kadidiatou Diani completed the scoring. The result brought London City within four points of second-placed Chelsea. Chelsea had drawn 1-1 with Everton on Saturday, giving their pursuers an opportunity to reduce the gap over the weekend.

Tottenham also recovered from a losing position, beating Brighton 2-1 to remain fourth, three points behind London City. Fran Kirby had put Brighton ahead in the second minute after being left unmarked. Signe Gaupset and Olivia Holdt scored two minutes apart in the second half to turn the match around and deliver Martin Ho's side their fifth league victory of the season.

Manchester United won 1-0 at Aston Villa to extend their unbeaten league run to seven matches. Substitute Julia Zigiotti Olme broke the deadlock with a header midway through the second half after United had failed to convert their first-half dominance into a goal. It was her fourth WSL goal this season, out of United's total of 10 in nine matches. The victory kept United two points ahead of sixth-placed Arsenal.
