Beau Greaves Makes History With First Women’s European Tour Win

Beau Greaves became the first woman to win a match on the PDC European Tour, defeating Daryl Gurney 6-4 in the opening round of the Czech Open in Prague. BBC Sport reported that the 22-year-old recovered from an early deficit to secure the landmark result and advance at the PVA Expo.

Gurney led 3-1 after the opening four legs, but Greaves changed the contest with a run of three consecutive legs. She completed those legs in 14, 13 and 11 darts to move 4-3 ahead. Gurney then levelled at 4-4, leaving the match balanced before Greaves claimed the final two legs for a 6-4 victory.

The result reversed the outcome of their previous meeting on a major stage. Gurney had beaten Greaves in a deciding set during their first-round match at the PDC World Championship in December. This time, Greaves held on after the momentum shifted and became the first female match winner in the European Tour’s 15-year history.

Her breakthrough came one week after her European Tour debut at the Hungarian Darts Trophy. Greaves pushed former world champion Rob Cross to a deciding leg in that first-round contest before losing 6-5. BBC Sport said her win in Prague was only her second appearance on the circuit.

Greaves has established several PDC milestones during 2026. In February, she became the first woman to record a nine-dart finish on the PDC ProTour, achieving it during a victory over Mensur Suljovic. She then became the first woman to win a PDC ranking title when she defeated Michael Smith in April. In July, she beat Fallon Sherrock to win the Women’s World Matchplay for a third time.

The Czech Open victory moves Greaves into the second round, where she is scheduled to face world number two Luke Humphries on Saturday. Humphries entered the event as the two-time defending champion after winning the Prague tournament in 2024 and 2025. Their match will give Greaves an immediate opportunity to build on her historic first European Tour win against one of the leading players in the field.
