Bayern expect Kompany recovery to take weeks as hospital tests continue
Bayern Munich expect Vincent Kompany's recovery to take weeks after the head coach collapsed at the club's training ground on Friday. BBC Sport reported that sporting director Max Eberl said on Saturday the 40-year-old remained in a stable condition in hospital, with examinations continuing and no firm timetable for his return.

Bayern's own statement confirmed that Kompany had been watching a reserve-team training session when he required medical attention. The club said he would remain under medical care while undergoing thorough examinations. Responsibility for both training and matches has passed to his existing coaching staff until further notice, rather than being tied to a specified return date.
The cause of the collapse has not been established publicly. Reporting on Saturday's press conference, t-online said Eberl expected Kompany to spend several more days in hospital while doctors investigated. Asked whether the incident was connected to the virus that had affected the coach during the week, Eberl declined to draw a connection and said further examinations were necessary.
According to the BBC, Kompany had missed Tuesday's pre-match news conference because he was unwell, but returned to the touchline for Wednesday's Champions League game against Arsenal. Eberl acknowledged the difficulty of holding back a coach who felt ready to work. He said Bayern would give Kompany the recovery time he needed and make greater efforts to protect him from pushing himself.
Assistant Aaron Danks will lead the team for Sunday's Bundesliga match at Freiburg, Goal reported. Danks said he had spoken to Kompany on Friday, but had kept the conversation focused on his colleague's wellbeing rather than football. He said the coaching staff would take responsibility for the sporting side and work together to move the team forward during the head coach's absence.
In its statement, Bayern placed Kompany's health ahead of his football duties. Eberl expressed full confidence in the coaches taking over his responsibilities and pledged the club's medical care and support throughout his recovery. That arrangement leaves the staff overseeing day-to-day football while Kompany remains under examination, with the club promising him the time he needs before returning.
