Bayern held by Augsburg after Fellhauer's record-breaking opener
Robin Fellhauer scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history before Bayern Munich twice recovered to draw 2-2. Harry Kane supplied both equalisers.

Bayern Munich needed two second-half equalisers to draw 2-2 at Augsburg on Saturday after Robin Fellhauer scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history. Harry Kane set up both Bayern goals, but the visitors were unable to turn their recovery into a victory. AFP reported that the result left Bayern second, two points behind Borussia Dortmund.

Watch the highlights:

The record-breaking start came from Bayern's own kick-off. The ball went back to Manuel Neuer, whose attempted chip gave Fellhauer the opportunity to score into an empty net. AFP reported that the Bundesliga confirmed the new mark, replacing the nine-second record previously shared by Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi. The goal came after approximately eight seconds.

Bayern spent the remainder of the first half trying to repair the damage. Sky Sport's match report described chances for Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, Ismael Saibari and Alphonso Davies that either missed the target or were blocked. Augsburg also threatened, with Juma Bah failing to convert a clear opportunity following a corner before the break.

Diaz appeared to have equalised after half-time when Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen failed to hold his effort, but a video review disallowed the goal for offside. Bayern's next breakthrough did count: Saibari finished from Kane's pass in the 55th minute. Sky Sport reported that Bayern had four goals disallowed over the course of the match, adding to their frustration.

Augsburg restored their advantage in the 64th minute. Neuer could only push away Calvin Brackelmann's shot, allowing Rodrigo Ribeiro to finish the rebound. Bayern again responded through Kane's creative contribution, with substitute Nathaniel Brown scoring the second equaliser in the 80th minute. Serge Gnabry then hit the post three minutes later, leaving the visitors without the winning goal they sought.

The draw meant Bayern could not take advantage of Dortmund's own dropped points to reach the top of the table. According to Sky Sport, Augsburg had also inflicted Bayern's only league defeat of the previous season. This time Bayern avoided another loss, but Fellhauer's historic opening and Ribeiro's second-half goal ensured that their neighbours again denied them a victory.
