Bass seals Bills overtime win over Rams after Rousseau blocks field goal
Buffalo beat Los Angeles 37-34 after Greg Rousseau blocked a potential winning field goal. Tyler Bass finished the next possession with a 45-yard kick.

Tyler Bass kicked a 45-yard field goal to give the Buffalo Bills a 37-34 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Monday. Buffalo improved to 4-1 while Los Angeles fell to 2-3, according to the Bills' official game records. The Guardian reported that Josh Allen earned his first career overtime victory after seven defeats.

Watch the highlights:

The decisive sequence followed a turnover that had put Buffalo in danger. Sports Illustrated's play-by-play records show James Cook losing a fumble recovered by Aaron Donald on the Bills' opening overtime possession. Los Angeles subsequently reached Buffalo's 30-yard line, but Greg Rousseau blocked Harrison Mevis's 48-yard field-goal attempt, returning the ball to the visitors without a change in the score.

Allen then gained 19 and 13 yards on successive runs to move Buffalo into position for Bass. The quarterback finished with 210 passing yards and another 121 on the ground, scoring one touchdown through the air and one rushing. Matthew Stafford threw for 383 yards and three touchdowns for Los Angeles, while Puka Nacua caught 17 passes for 138 yards and a score.

The Bills' official scoring summary shows how often control changed hands before overtime. Bass supplied the opening six points with field goals from 49 and 23 yards. Stafford found Davante Adams for a four-yard touchdown, but Cook's 17-yard scoring run helped Buffalo take a 13-7 advantage into halftime.

Blake Corum's one-yard touchdown run put Los Angeles ahead in the third quarter before Allen answered with a seven-yard scoring pass to Keon Coleman. The teams then combined for 35 fourth-quarter points. Nacua scored for the Rams, Allen ran in from a yard out, and another Stafford touchdown pass to Adams brought the score level at 27-27.

Cook's five-yard touchdown run and Bass's extra point restored Buffalo's seven-point lead. The Rams responded with an eight-play, 63-yard drive, capped by Kyren Williams's one-yard touchdown run. Mevis added the extra point to make it 34-34 and force the additional period.

Buffalo won despite trailing 454-436 in total net yards, according to the club's official box score. Penalties also disrupted both teams: the Bills were flagged 13 times for 112 yards, compared with 11 penalties for 84 yards against Los Angeles.
