Barcelona Sign Gabriel Jesus From Arsenal Through 2029

Barcelona have completed the permanent signing of Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, adding the Brazil striker on a contract that runs until June 30, 2029. Barcelona announced the agreement on Tuesday, September 1, confirming that the 29-year-old has joined for three seasons. The move brings Jesus's four-year spell in north London to an end. Barcelona's account of the transfer says he made 123 appearances for Arsenal after arriving from Manchester City in July 2022, scoring 32 goals and supplying 22 assists across all competitions.

His final period with Arsenal followed a lengthy recovery from a serious knee injury. Barcelona said Jesus suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January 2025 and remained sidelined until December. He later returned to contribute three goals in 14 appearances as Arsenal won the 2025-26 Premier League title.

Jesus first established himself in senior football with Palmeiras, making his debut in March 2015. He helped the Brazilian club win the domestic cup in 2015 and the league title in 2016, when he was also named the best player in Brazil's top flight. Those performances preceded his move to Manchester City in 2016.

During his time at City, Jesus recorded 95 goals and 45 assists in 236 appearances, according to Barcelona. His honours there included four Premier League titles, an FA Cup and four League Cups. He then moved to Arsenal in 2022, remaining in England until the completion of this transfer.

The striker also brings extensive international experience. Jesus made his senior Brazil debut in September 2016 and was selected for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. He was part of Brazil's gold-medal squad at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the team that won the Copa America in 2019. Barcelona have not attached any further conditions to the publicly announced length of his deal, which is set to cover the next three seasons.
