Barcelona Push for Second Rashford Loan Deal After Breakthrough Season at Old Trafford
Barcelona are pushing hard for a second loan deal for Marcus Rashford after the England forward's impressive resurgence at Manchester United this season. The La Liga giants are keen to reunite with the 28-year-old, who spent time at Barcelona's academy as a youth player over a decade ago.
Watch the highlights:
Rashford has been in superb form under Ruben Amorim, scoring 12 goals in his last 15 Premier League appearances. However, his long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with the player understood to be seeking guarantees over regular first-team football heading into the 2026 World Cup cycle.
A source close to the negotiations said: "Marcus wants to play every week. He's shown what he can do when given the chance, but the competition at United is fierce. Barcelona offers him the opportunity to play in a different league and work with a club he has history with."
United's hierarchy are said to be open to discussions but remain firm on their valuation. The Red Devils are reportedly seeking a loan fee of around £8 million plus Rashford's wages, which amount to approximately £350,000 per week. Barcelona are understood to be willing to cover the majority of his wages but are negotiating on the upfront payment.
The potential move comes as Rashford enters the final two years of his United contract. While the club hold an option to extend by a further year, the forward has made it clear he wants clarity on his long-term future before committing to any extension.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has personally requested the signing, believing Rashford's pace and versatility would strengthen his attacking options. "We need players who can make the difference in big games," Flick told Spanish media. "Marcus has proven he can do that at the highest level."
A decision is expected before the summer transfer window closes, with both clubs working to find a compromise on the financial terms.
