Connor McDavid Reaches 100 Points as Oilers Beat Rangers 5-3
The Edmonton superstar becomes fastest player to reach century mark this season in thrilling Madison Square Garden victory.

Connor McDavid reached the 100-point milestone for the seventh time in his career, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a thrilling 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The superstar captain achieved the feat in just 53 games, making him the fastest player to reach 100 points in the 2025-26 season.

McDavid opened the scoring just 3:47 into the first period with a vintage rush up ice, beating Igor Shesterkin with a wrist shot that found the top corner. The goal was his 35th of the season and moved him past the century mark in points, drawing a standing ovation from the knowledgeable New York crowd.

The Oilers took control in the second period, with Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman adding goals to extend the lead to 3-0. McDavid picked up assists on both tallies, showcasing the playmaking ability that has made him arguably the most dangerous offensive threat in hockey today.

New York mounted a comeback attempt in the third period, with goals from Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider cutting the deficit to one. The Rangers pushed hard for the equalizer, outshooting Edmonton 15-7 in the final frame, but Stuart Skinner stood tall in the Oilers net to preserve the victory.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sealed the win with an empty-net goal, while Evan Bouchard added another late tally to complete the scoring. The victory moves Edmonton within two points of the Pacific Division lead, maintaining their position as one of the Western Conference top contenders.

McDavid milestone performance continues one of the most dominant individual seasons in recent NHL history. The 27-year-old center is on pace for 154 points, which would be the highest single-season total since Mario Lemieux scored 161 points in 1995-96.
