Carlos Alcaraz Claims Dubai Tennis Championships Title in Straight-Set Victory
World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz continued his exceptional early-season form by capturing the Dubai Tennis Championships with a commanding 6-4, 6-2 victory over Daniil Medvedev.

Carlos Alcaraz captured his second ATP title of the 2026 season with a masterful 6-4, 6-2 victory over Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships, extending his perfect record in ATP finals to 16-0.

The Spanish sensation, seeded second in the tournament, displayed the complete range of his skills on the hard courts of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. Alcaraz's combination of power, precision, and court coverage proved too much for the former world No. 1 Medvedev, who was seeking his first title since the 2023 season.

Alcaraz took control of the match early, breaking Medvedev's serve in the opening game with a series of devastating forehand winners down the line. The 22-year-old maintained his aggressive style throughout the first set, consistently stepping into the court and dictating play from the baseline. His serve, which has shown marked improvement over the past year, held firm under pressure as he closed out the set 6-4.

The second set saw Alcaraz reach another level, breaking Medvedev twice while losing just 12 points on serve. The Russian, known for his defensive prowess and ability to frustrate opponents, had no answers for Alcaraz's varied attack patterns. The Spaniard mixed drop shots with powerful groundstrokes, keeping Medvedev off balance and unable to establish any rhythm.

The victory moves Alcaraz back to world No. 1 in the ATP rankings, displacing Novak Djokovic who did not compete this week. It also extends his winning streak to 11 matches dating back to the start of the season, where he won the Australian Open in January. The Dubai triumph represents Alcaraz's 17th career ATP title and his second at the Masters 1000 level.

Speaking during the trophy ceremony, Alcaraz expressed satisfaction with his current form. I feel like I am playing some of the best tennis of my career right now, the young star said. Daniil is always a tough opponent, but I was able to execute my game plan perfectly today. This gives me great confidence heading into the upcoming tournaments. Alcaraz will next compete at the Indian Wells Masters, where he will look to defend his title from last year.
