Australia beat Scotland 30-10 to end six-match losing streak

Australia overturned a five-point half-time deficit to beat Scotland 30-10 in the WXV Global Series in Edinburgh, ending a six-match losing run. The Guardian reported that the Wallaroos scored 25 unanswered points after the interval at Hive Stadium, claiming their first Test victory of the season after defeats by England and France on the preceding two weekends.

The result also gave Michaela Leonard a winning finish to a milestone appearance. The 31-year-old lock became the first Wallaroos player to reach 50 Test caps. Desiree Miller reached a landmark of her own, taking her international points tally to 100 with Australia's opening try six minutes before half-time, although the visitors still trailed at the break.

Scotland had taken control of the scoreboard through an Evie Gallagher try in the 15th minute. Helen Nelson added the conversion and a penalty, giving the home side a 10-5 interval lead. Australia subsequently kept Scotland scoreless throughout the second half, while a burst of three tries in eight minutes changed the direction of the match.

The comeback began in the 50th minute when Australia drove a maul towards the Scottish line. Gallagher brought it down before Sam Wood collected the ball and scored, and the Scotland number eight was sent to the sin-bin for 10 minutes. The Wallaroos made their numerical advantage count, with further tries from prop Brianna Hoy and Faitala Moleka following in quick succession.

Miller helped create Moleka's score by launching a counterattack from Australia's own 22 after the restart. Moleka, named player of the match, credited a half-time address from captain Siokapesi Palu with helping the team respond to Scotland's physical pressure at the breakdown. According to the Guardian's report, she described a change in the players' approach as central to the second-half improvement.

Wood later kicked two penalties as Australia's scrum gained the upper hand in deteriorating weather, completing the scoring in a 20-point victory. The result preserved the Wallaroos' unbeaten record against Scotland. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Sydney and Canberra next month, with Australia heading into those return fixtures having finally ended their winless start to the season.
