Australia Beat Argentina 27-21 to Extend Winning Run Under Les Kiss

Australia defeated Argentina 27-21 in San Salvador de Jujuy, extending the Wallabies' winning streak to four matches. The Guardian reported that the result marked Australia's first four-Test winning run since 2021 and left head coach Les Kiss unbeaten through his opening three Tests in charge. The victory followed wins over Italy and Japan, but came against an Argentina side ranked seventh in the world.

Australia struck first after Rob Valetini and Tom Hooper helped create space in a flowing attack. Josh Canham was stopped on the wing but released Brandon Paenga-Amosa, who forced his way over. The Wallabies then doubled their try count when Max Jorgensen's blindside run created an overlap and Carter Gordon powered across.

Argentina responded through Geronimo Prisciantelli after a short lineout opened the Australian defence and Santiago Carreras supplied the final pass. Australia restored control by using Gordon's kicking to keep the hosts near their own line. After Argentina conceded penalties under pressure, Fraser McReight burrowed over for Australia's third try.

The contest shifted when Australia lost Harry Potter to a yellow card after he disrupted a pass. Argentina exploited the numerical advantage, with two quick taps involving Joaquin Moro ending in a try. A penalty before the interval nevertheless gave Australia a 22-14 halftime lead, even as the teams remained closely matched.

Ryan Lonergan was injured while preventing a try early in the second half, and an apparent Argentina score was then ruled out for forward passes. Boris Wenger later drove over to narrow the deficit. Kiss turned to his bench, and carries from Valetini and Hunter Paisami moved Australia forward before Tom Hooper finished the opportunity that supplied the Wallabies' final five points. Ben Donaldson missed the conversion.

Argentina still had time to threaten with six points separating the sides. Tate McDermott was held up after a quick tap that could have settled the match, while the hosts drove back into Australia's territory. Billy Pollard then made a heavy tackle and McReight won a turnover. According to The Guardian, Australia kept Argentina out through the closing moments to complete the 27-21 victory.
