Aurora Christian Eagles Soar to Historic Victory Over Timothy Christian
Grace Kendall leads Aurora Christian to their first-ever varsity softball victory against conference rival Timothy Christian in thrilling 11-9 contest.

In a game that will be remembered for years to come at Aurora Christian, the Eagles achieved something that had eluded the program since its inception: a varsity softball victory over Chicagoland Christian Conference rival Timothy Christian. The 11-9 triumph at Stuart Sports Complex in Montgomery marked not just another win, but a historic breakthrough that signals the program's upward trajectory.

Senior Grace Kendall, one of just three upperclassmen on a roster dominated by nine freshmen, exemplified the leadership that has driven this young Eagles squad. Kendall showcased her versatility by starting on the mound for three innings before transitioning to first base, allowing freshman Ella Owen to take over pitching duties for the final four frames.

The dynamic between the veteran Kendall and the promising Owen tells the story of Aurora Christian's evolution. Owen, nicknamed "Unc" by her teammate, demonstrated remarkable composure for a first-year player, recording six strikeouts while helping to scatter seven hits across the game. The two pitchers combined for nine strikeouts total, keeping Timothy Christian's offense off balance throughout the contest.

"Our other pitcher, Ella, calls me 'Unc' sometimes," Kendall explained with a laugh. "I like to think we're always teaching them that we have ups and downs through games and we always need to compete as a team. We're playing better together."

The Eagles' offensive approach proved equally effective, drawing an impressive 15 walks while also getting hit by a pitch against Timothy Christian's pitching staff. Sophomore second baseman Jada Vizcaya led the charge with two hits and two runs, while the team's patience at the plate created numerous scoring opportunities.

Second-year coach Tonia Logan has been instrumental in developing this young squad, building on relationships she forged with many current freshmen during their travel ball days when they were just nine years old. The familial connection runs deep – Owen is actually Logan's niece, adding another layer to the team's close-knit chemistry.

For Kendall, whose older brother Conner currently pitches for Benedictine University, the victory represents more than just breaking a winless streak against Timothy Christian. She has fielded recruiting interest from several NCAA Division III schools and junior colleges, positioning herself as a trailblazer for future Eagles players.

"The three of us seniors played a mixture of JV and varsity games our first two years that allowed us to grow," Kendall reflected. "I definitely think we can battle for a regional title this season."

The program's growth trajectory extends beyond this single victory. Logan believes that by the time the current freshmen reach their junior and senior years, Aurora Christian will be competing at an even higher level in postseason play.

With Kendall's multi-sport athleticism and veteran presence guiding a talented young core, the Eagles have established themselves as a program on the rise. Their historic victory over Timothy Christian serves as proof that patience, development, and strong leadership can transform a struggling program into a competitive force within the Chicagoland Christian Conference.
