Aston Villa Complete Double Signing of Ibrahim Mbaye and Taylor Harwood-Bellis

Aston Villa have completed the permanent signings of Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain and Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Southampton. BBC Sport reported the two transfers on Tuesday, with Unai Emery adding an 18-year-old Senegal winger and a 24-year-old England centre-back to his squad on deadline day.

Mbaye moves to Villa Park after making his senior PSG debut at 16. In its announcement, Aston Villa described him as a Senegal international and confirmed that he scored for his country at the 2026 World Cup. The club also said he became the youngest African player to score at a World Cup finals tournament.

The winger leaves Paris with senior honours already on his record. Villa's announcement listed two Champions League titles, two Ligue 1 championships, a French Cup and two UEFA Super Cups among the trophies won during his time with PSG. It also said Mbaye has made 15 senior appearances for Senegal. BBC Sport reported the transfer fee as 55 million euros, equivalent to about £47 million.

Harwood-Bellis arrives on a permanent transfer after helping Southampton win promotion to the Premier League during an initial loan spell from Manchester City. That promotion triggered a permanent move to Southampton in 2024. The defender came through Manchester City's academy and also spent periods on loan with Blackburn Rovers, Anderlecht, Stoke City and Burnley during his development.

The centre-back captained England to the European Under-21 Championship title in 2023. He received his first senior England call-up the following year and scored on his debut against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley. The Guardian reported that Villa's deal for Harwood-Bellis was worth an initial £25 million, while the club's own announcement did not disclose financial terms.

The two deals address different areas of Emery's squad: Mbaye adds a young wide attacker, while Harwood-Bellis supplies another central-defensive option. Their arrivals were announced after both players had been seen at Villa Park for Monday's 1-0 Premier League defeat by Arsenal. Villa have confirmed both transfers as permanent, completing the moves before Tuesday night's English transfer deadline.
