Aston Villa Agree Aaron Wan-Bissaka Loan Deal With Buy Obligation
Aston Villa have agreed an initial loan deal for West Ham right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with an obligation to make the move permanent. The defender has permission to travel for a medical, while the financial terms remain undisclosed.

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on an initial loan, with an obligation to buy him at the end of the season. BBC Sport reported that the DR Congo right-back has been given permission to travel to the Midlands for a medical as the clubs move toward completing the transfer.

The precise financial terms have not been disclosed. According to the BBC report, West Ham had previously asked interested clubs for a £25 million fee, but it is not known whether that figure forms part of the agreement reached with Villa. The deal therefore remains subject to the remaining formalities, including the medical.

Wan-Bissaka, 28, has missed West Ham’s opening two matches of the Championship season while negotiations have continued. His expected departure would end his spell with the Hammers and add another club to a career that has also included Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

West Ham have already completed two major sales this summer. Midfielder Mateus Fernandes joined Tottenham Hotspur for £85 million, while winger Crysencio Summerville moved for £60 million. Captain Jarrod Bowen, however, has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract. Wan-Bissaka’s proposed exit would be another significant change to the squad.

Villa have also reshaped their group ahead of the new campaign. Morgan Rogers was sold to Chelsea for £117 million, while midfielders Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes have arrived. Villa have also brought in winger Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on a loan carrying an obligation to buy, and added highly rated young centre-back Modou Keba Cisse.

The Wan-Bissaka agreement comes shortly before Villa begin their Premier League season away to Brighton on Sunday at 14:00 BST. Unai Emery’s side will also play in the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League and winning the Europa League last season. If the deal is completed, Wan-Bissaka will strengthen Villa’s defensive options for a campaign that includes both domestic and European competition.
