Arthur Fery Named in Great Britain Team for Ecuador Davis Cup Tie
Wimbledon semi-finalist Arthur Fery has been selected for Great Britain's September Davis Cup tie against Ecuador at the Copper Box Arena. Cameron Norrie, Jacob Fearnley, Henry Patten and Lloyd Glasspool are also named, with another player to be added later.

Arthur Fery has been selected for Great Britain's Davis Cup meeting with Ecuador following his run to the Wimbledon semi-finals. BBC Sport reported that the 24-year-old will join Cameron Norrie, Jacob Fearnley, Henry Patten and Lloyd Glasspool for the home tie at London's Copper Box Arena, with another player due to be added closer to the event.

Watch the highlights:

The selection follows a major rise for Fery during the grass-court Grand Slam. He entered Wimbledon as a wildcard ranked 114th in the world, then advanced to the last four. That made him the lowest-ranked men's player to reach a Wimbledon semi-final since Goran Ivanisevic in 2001 and lifted Fery to a career-best ranking of 36.

September's contest will be Fery's first appearance in England since that Wimbledon campaign. He told BBC Sport that he was proud to represent Great Britain again and acknowledged that playing at home in a World Group tie, with qualification for the final eight at stake, would create a different setting and potentially additional pressure. He said he was ready for that challenge.

British number one Norrie is included alongside Fearnley, Patten and Glasspool, but former world number four Jack Draper is absent from the initial group. The announcement leaves one additional selection open before the tie, meaning the published squad is not yet complete. BBC Sport did not identify who might receive the remaining place.

Draper's omission comes amid persistent trouble with an arm injury. According to BBC Sport, the 24-year-old had recently become emotional during his first match since June as he attempted to return from a lengthy period of injury difficulty. Across 12 months his world ranking had fallen from fourth to as low as 160th. The report did not give a timetable for another return.

The best-of-five tie will take place across 19 and 20 September. Two singles matches are scheduled for the opening day at the Copper Box Arena. The second day begins with doubles before two further singles contests. Great Britain's stated objective is to beat Ecuador and secure passage to the final eight, while the later addition to the squad remains the only unresolved element of the announced team.
