Arsenal beat Sunderland 2-0 as Raya save sets up fourth straight league win

Arsenal won 2-0 at Sunderland on Saturday to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season, with Bruno Guimarães and Bukayo Saka scoring after David Raya saved a penalty. The victory at the Stadium of Light was their fourth from four league matches.

According to Sky Sports' match report, Arsenal had opportunities before the interval but could not turn them into a lead. Saka failed to make a clean connection with a delivery from Declan Rice, while Kai Havertz sent one attempt over and had another tipped over the bar by Robin Roefs.

AS reported that Mikel Arteta introduced Guimarães and Jurriën Timber at half-time. Sunderland then won a penalty after Dan Ballard was held in the area. Enzo Le Fée took the kick, but Raya reached down to his left to stop it, denying the hosts the opening goal.

Sky Sports reported that Guimarães struck just 121 seconds after that save, scoring from outside the penalty area. It was his first goal for Arsenal. The former Newcastle captain had been booed by the Sunderland supporters before giving the visitors the lead.

Sunderland continued to threaten through Nordi Mukiele, with Raya making another important intervention, according to AS. At the other end, Roefs and Ballard helped keep the deficit to one goal. Timber also had an effort ruled out for offside as Arsenal sought a second.

The decisive late incident came when Reinildo Mandava brought down Saka in the penalty area. Sky Sports reported that the Sunderland defender received a second yellow card and was sent off. Saka converted the resulting spot-kick in stoppage time, with Roefs unable to keep the ball out.

Arsenal put five attempts on target to Sunderland's three.
