Arizona Wildcats Women’s Basketball Land Former Maryland Forward Breanna Williams
Arizona’s women’s basketball program continued reshaping its roster for the 2026-27 season on Tuesday, securing a commitment from former Maryland forward Breanna Williams. The 6-foot-2 forward will join the Wildcats with three years of eligibility remaining after spending two seasons with the Terrapins, including a redshirt campaign.
Williams saw limited minutes during her redshirt freshman season at Maryland but posted numbers that project well across a full 40 minutes of play. She averaged 4.7 points on 48.6 percent shooting, 2.8 rebounds, and just under one assist per game in roughly 10 minutes of action. When extrapolated to a full game, those figures translate to 18.3 points and 11 rebounds per 40 minutes, suggesting untapped potential waiting to be unlocked in Tucson.
The Billings, Montana native arrives after a decorated high school career at Skyview High School, where she was rated a four-star recruit and ranked No. 45 in the class of 2024 by ESPN. Gatorade recognized her as Montana’s Player of the Year in both her junior and senior seasons, and she finished her prep career averaging 25.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.
The commitment marks the second straight day Arizona has landed a transfer standing 6-foot-2 or taller. On Monday, former USC forward Gerda Raulušaitytė joined the Wildcats. Together, Williams and Raulušaitytė give head coach Becky Burke four frontcourt players heading into next season, joining freshmen Callie Hinder and Priyanka Ponnam.
Tuesday brought additional good news for the program, as California transfer Aliyahna ‘Puff’ Morris officially signed with Arizona. The point guard brings Power 4 experience to a backcourt that needed depth after last season’s roster scramble.
Unlike the 2025-26 roster-building effort, Burke’s 2026 transfer portal additions have featured geographic continuity. Two of the three transfer pickups have played in the Western United States at some point in their careers, a pattern that could benefit team cohesion as the new-look Wildcats build toward conference play.
With Williams’ addition, Arizona has begun assembling a roster that prioritizes size, experience, and versatility. Her per-40-minute numbers suggest a player ready to contribute significantly once she adjusts to a new system and a heavier workload.
