Andy Woodman leaves Bromley by mutual agreement after difficult League One start
Andy Woodman has left Bromley by mutual agreement with the club 23rd in League One. Assistant manager Byron Webster will take interim charge after a tenure that brought three trophies and two promotions.

Andy Woodman has left Bromley by mutual agreement after a difficult start to the club's first season in League One, BBC Sport reported. His departure ends a spell of five years and seven months in which he delivered three trophies and led Bromley from non-league football into the third tier.

Watch the highlights:

Bromley are 23rd in the table, one point ahead of bottom club Wigan Athletic, after winning two of their opening 10 league matches. They have conceded 25 goals, the highest total in the English Football League. A 4-0 defeat by Leicester City on Tuesday was their third consecutive league loss and their fifth straight defeat across all competitions.

Assistant manager Byron Webster will oversee the first team on an interim basis. His immediate assignment is Saturday's home match against Peterborough United at Hayes Lane, scheduled for 15:00 BST. The change places Webster in charge of a side whose opening campaign at this level has included a 7-2 loss at Sheffield Wednesday and a 5-0 home defeat by Leyton Orient.

Woodman took the Bromley job in 2021, his first appointment as a manager. His tenure brought an FA Trophy triumph, victory in the National League play-off final and the club's first entry into the Football League. He then secured another promotion by winning the League Two title in May, earning the division's manager-of-the-year award for the 2025-26 season.

The departure comes despite Woodman having two years remaining on his contract, according to the BBC's report. His time at Hayes Lane made him the third-longest-serving manager among the 92 Premier League and EFL clubs. Only Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and Mansfield's Nigel Clough had been in their posts longer, underlining the length of an appointment that spanned Bromley's rise through the divisions.

Bromley owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves credited Woodman with playing a central role in the club's progress and wished him well for the future. The separation was announced as a mutual termination of the contract. Webster now takes temporary responsibility following a managerial tenure that produced two promotions but ended with Bromley in the League One relegation places.
