Andy Woodman leaves Bromley after two promotions as League One struggles deepen
Bromley and Andy Woodman have mutually terminated his contract after a difficult start in League One. Assistant manager Byron Webster will take interim charge following a tenure that brought three trophies and two promotions.

Andy Woodman has left Bromley after the club and manager agreed to terminate his contract, ending a spell that took the Ravens into the Football League and then League One. BBC Sport reported the departure on Thursday, with Bromley sitting 23rd in the third tier after winning only two of their opening 10 league matches.

Watch the highlights:

Assistant manager Byron Webster will oversee the first team on an interim basis. His immediate assignment is Saturday's home match against Peterborough United at Hayes Lane, where kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 BST. Bromley are one point ahead of bottom side Wigan Athletic and have conceded 25 league goals, the highest total across the English Football League, according to the BBC's report.

The change follows Tuesday's 4-0 defeat by Leicester City, which extended Bromley's losing run to three league games and five matches in all competitions. Other heavy defeats this season have included a 7-2 loss at Hillsborough and a 5-0 home reverse against Leyton Orient. The BBC also reported a lengthy injury list and substantial squad turnover during the club's difficult introduction to League One.

Woodman arrived in 2021 for his first job as a manager and went on to deliver three trophies. Bromley won the FA Trophy and the National League play-off final during his tenure before adding the League Two title in May. That most recent success secured a second promotion under Woodman, who was also named League Two's manager of the year for the 2025-26 season.

His departure ends a tenure of five years and seven months. Among managers at the 92 Premier League and EFL clubs, only Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and Mansfield's Nigel Clough had been in their posts longer. Woodman still had two years remaining on his contract, the BBC reported, but the agreement brings his involvement in Bromley's first League One campaign to an early close.

Owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves credited Woodman with a central role in the club's progress and wished him well for the future. Webster now takes temporary responsibility for a side whose recent promotions have been followed by a difficult opening to life in the third tier.
