Alex Scott leaves Disney+ Women’s Champions League presenting role
Alex Scott has left her presenting role on Disney+'s Women's Champions League coverage, the Guardian reported. The broadcaster thanked the former England and Arsenal defender for her contribution, while her representatives said she valued the opportunity to work with its team and hoped they could collaborate again in the future.

According to the Guardian, Scott chose to leave to concentrate on other projects, including One More Word WSL, the show she makes with fellow former England internationals Anita Asante and Fara Williams. Sources cited by the newspaper said her relationship with Disney remained positive. Scott had been part of the platform's coverage since it acquired the competition's broadcast rights in 2025.
Her departure follows criticism of technical problems during the opening round of this season's competition. Among the incidents reported by the Guardian was an unscheduled advertising break during the second half of Arsenal's 1-0 victory over HB Køge. The interruption lasted more than three minutes. The newspaper did not establish those production problems as the reason for Scott's decision to leave.
Scott had addressed criticism of the coverage in an interview with the Observer earlier this month. She said she had disagreed with some production decisions and had offered advice, while emphasising that her influence was limited. She also described efforts behind the scenes to support women's sport. Disney+'s statement on her departure praised her enthusiasm for the women's game and the Champions League.
Scott launched One More Word through her company, First Cap Productions Limited, at the start of the current Women's Super League season. She has said the programme was a response to the BBC's cancellation of its weekly televised WSL highlights show. Her other broadcasting work has included presenting Football Focus for five seasons before its closure this year, as well as BBC coverage of the 2020 Olympics.
Disney secured exclusive European broadcast rights to the Women's Champions League under a five-year agreement in 2025, with ESPN producing its coverage. The Guardian reported that Shebahn Aherne, Nedum Onuoha and Lianne Sanderson were expected to remain in the presenting team. Commentators include Vicki Sparks and Jacqui Oatley. The competition's next matches are scheduled for 28 October.
