Inter Milan Agree £30m Package for Liverpool Midfielder Curtis Jones
Inter Milan have agreed a deal with Liverpool worth up to 35 million euros (£30 million) for midfielder Curtis Jones, according to BBC Sport. The transfer has not yet been completed: Jones is expected to travel to Italy on Thursday for a medical before the proposed move can proceed.
Watch the highlights:
BBC Sport reported that Liverpool accepted a guaranteed 30 million euros (£25.7 million), with a further 5 million euros (£4.3 million) available in add-ons. The agreement also includes a 10% sell-on clause for Liverpool, which would give the Premier League club a share of a future transfer fee.
The agreement follows earlier negotiations between the clubs. Liverpool rejected a verbal offer of 25 million euros (£21.7 million) in June, when Jones had one year remaining on his contract and the club valued him at about £35 million. Inter had also explored a loan with a view to a permanent transfer in January, but Liverpool turned down that proposal.
Jones, 25, has made 228 appearances for Liverpool since his first-team debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. He joined the club's academy at the age of nine. During the 2025-26 season, he appeared 49 times in all competitions, although only 18 of those outings were Premier League starts as he struggled to establish a regular midfield place under Arne Slot.
According to the BBC report, Jones is keen to pursue a new challenge. If he completes the move, he would become the third English player to join Inter during the summer transfer window, following John Stones and Djed Spence. Inter are the reigning Serie A champions.
The medical is now the next stated step in the process, so the transfer remains pending rather than complete. If all remaining requirements are satisfied, the agreement would take Jones from the club where he developed as a youth player to Italy, while giving Inter another English addition and Liverpool a guaranteed fee plus possible add-ons and a future sell-on interest.
