India Completes Dominant Test Series Sweep Against England with 7-Wicket Victory
Ravichandran Ashwin takes 6 wickets in the second innings as India claims a 4-0 series whitewash in Dharamshala, extending their home dominance.

India completed a comprehensive 4-0 Test series whitewash against England with a commanding 7-wicket victory in the fifth and final Test at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Sunday. Ravichandran Ashwin's masterful second-innings bowling figures of 6-47 sealed another dominant home series win for the hosts, who have now won 17 consecutive Test series on Indian soil.

England, resuming their second innings at 103-3, collapsed dramatically in the morning session as Ashwin weaved his magic on a wearing pitch. The veteran off-spinner dismissed Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes in quick succession to reduce the visitors to 145-7, effectively ending any hopes of setting a competitive target for India.

"This has been one of the most satisfying series victories of my career," said India captain Rohit Sharma after the match. "The way our bowlers, especially Ashwin, have performed throughout the series has been exceptional. To complete a 4-0 whitewash against a quality England side shows the strength and depth of our home cricket."

England's second innings folded for just 195 runs, leaving India with a modest target of 121 runs to complete the series sweep. The Indian openers made light work of the chase, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten 57 and Rohit Sharma contributing 42 before retiring with a minor finger injury.

Ashwin, who finished the series with 26 wickets at an average of just 16.23, was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series. The 37-year-old spinner's mastery of home conditions once again proved decisive, as he consistently troubled England's batsmen with his variations and subtle changes of pace.

"Playing at home gives you certain advantages, but you still have to execute your plans perfectly," Ashwin reflected. "The wickets have been challenging for batting, and I've been able to use the conditions to my advantage. It's always special to contribute to a series win for India."

England captain Ben Stokes acknowledged his team's struggles against spin bowling throughout the series. "We've been outplayed in all departments," Stokes admitted. "India's spinners have been exceptional, and we haven't adapted well enough to these conditions. We need to go back and work on our game against quality spin bowling."

The series victory further strengthens India's position at the top of the World Test Championship standings and maintains their remarkable home record, where they remain virtually unbeatable in Test cricket.
