Manchester City Extends Premier League Lead with 3-1 Victory Over Arsenal
Erling Haaland scored twice as City moved five points clear at the top of the table with a commanding win at the Etihad.

Manchester City strengthened their grip on the Premier League title race with a dominant 3-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, extending their lead at the top of the table to five points with 12 matches remaining.

Erling Haaland was the star of the show, netting his 23rd and 24th league goals of the season to continue his remarkable debut campaign in England. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a trademark finish from close range before doubling the advantage just before halftime with a thunderous strike from outside the box.

Arsenal, who came into the match as City's closest challengers, found themselves chasing the game early after falling behind to Haaland's opener. Despite controlling large portions of the first half, the Gunners struggled to create clear-cut chances against City's well-organized defense marshaled by Ruben Dias and John Stones.

The visitors did find a lifeline in the 58th minute when Gabriel Jesus, facing his former club for the first time since his summer move, scored with a clever finish past Ederson after excellent work from Bukayo Saka on the right wing. The goal sparked hope of a comeback and lifted the 3,000 traveling Arsenal supporters who had made the journey to Manchester.

However, any dreams of salvaging a point were extinguished 15 minutes later when Kevin De Bruyne delivered a moment of magic. The Belgian playmaker, who had been relatively quiet by his standards, picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and curled a magnificent effort into the top corner, leaving Aaron Ramsdale with no chance.

The result leaves Manchester City sitting pretty at the summit with 67 points from 26 games, while Arsenal remain in second place but now face an uphill battle to close the gap. For Pep Guardiola's side, the victory represents a significant step toward securing what would be their third consecutive Premier League title.
