Former Washington Defender Noah Igbinoghene Joins Super Bowl Champion Seahawks
The former first-round cornerback signs a one-year deal with Seattle after spending two seasons with the Commanders as Washington secondary undergoes major changes.

Noah Igbinoghene has found his next NFL destination, agreeing to a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks as the former Miami first-round draft pick continues his journey around the league.

The 2020 first-round selection spent the past two seasons with the Washington Commanders before entering free agency, where he becomes the second cornerback to depart the organization this offseason alongside veteran Jonathan Jones.

Igbinoghenes tenure in Washington showcased both promise and inconsistency across his 32 games in burgundy and gold. The Auburn product made 12 starts during his two-year stint, accumulating 90 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and 17 pass deflections while serving as a key component of the defensive backfield.

The 2024 campaign marked a breakthrough season for Igbinoghene, who participated in 76 percent of Washingtons defensive snaps while recording his most extensive playing time since entering the NFL. That season represented his most significant contribution on defense, totaling 818 snaps as he established himself as a reliable presence in the secondary.

However, his role diminished considerably during the 2025 season when his snap percentage dropped to just 37 percent. The reduced playing time reflected the evolving dynamics of Washingtons defensive backfield and the arrival of veteran additions who altered the depth chart hierarchy.

Part of Igbinoghenes decreased involvement stemmed from the presence of experienced cornerback Jonathan Jones, who commanded significant playing time before departing for the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year agreement. The departure of both players signals a substantial transformation in Washingtons defensive back rotation.

The Commanders responded quickly to these losses by signing cornerback Amik Robertson during the early hours of free agency, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining depth at the position despite the departures.

Igbinoghenes career path has been defined by transitions and fresh opportunities. After spending his initial three NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins, who selected him 30th overall in 2020, he briefly joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2023 before following defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to Washington.

The connection with Quinn proved beneficial for Igbinoghenes development, as the experienced coordinator helped maximize his potential during the 2024 season. Their relationship began in Dallas and continued in Washington, where Quinn implemented defensive schemes that suited Igbinoghenes skill set.

Seattle represents another chance for the young cornerback to establish consistency and build upon his NFL experience. The Seahawks, coming off their Super Bowl championship, offer an environment where Igbinoghene can contribute to a winning culture while competing for playing time in their secondary.

The one-year agreement provides both sides with flexibility while allowing Igbinoghene to prove his value in a new system. For Seattle, the signing adds experienced depth at cornerback without long-term financial commitment, maintaining roster flexibility while addressing positional needs.

Throughout his career, Igbinoghene has demonstrated flashes of the talent that made him a first-round selection, though consistency has remained elusive. His 373 defensive snaps in 2025 represented his second-highest total, indicating he can still contribute meaningfully when given opportunities.

The move to Seattle provides Igbinoghene with another chance to establish himself as a reliable NFL defender while joining an organization known for developing defensive backs and maximizing player potential under their coaching staff.
