Mikaela Shiffrin Wins Record-Breaking 100th World Cup Race in Cortina Slalom
American ski legend Mikaela Shiffrin reaches historic milestone with dominant slalom victory ahead of Olympic giant slalom competition.

Mikaela Shiffrin cemented her status as alpine skiing's greatest athlete on Tuesday, claiming her 100th World Cup victory with a commanding performance in the slalom event at Cortina d'Ampezzo. The 30-year-old American becomes the first skier in history to reach the century mark, extending her lead over Ingemar Stenmark's previous record of 86 wins.

Shiffrin posted the fastest time in both runs, finishing 0.87 seconds ahead of Slovakia's Petra Vlhova and 1.12 seconds clear of Switzerland's Wendy Holdener. The victory comes just days before Shiffrin competes in the giant slalom at the nearby Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, where she seeks to add to her three Olympic gold medals.

"I never imagined reaching 100 wins when I started on the World Cup circuit," Shiffrin said through tears at the finish line. "Every single one of these victories represents so much work from my team, my family, and everyone who has supported me."

The milestone victory arrived on the same Olympia delle Tofane course where Shiffrin claimed her first Olympic gold in slalom at the 2021 Cortina World Championships. Her 100 wins span across six different disciplines, showcasing unparalleled versatility in alpine skiing.

With 60 slalom victories, 21 giant slalom wins, and 19 combined podiums across super-G, downhill, and alpine combined events, Shiffrin's dominance has redefined what's possible in ski racing. She now turns her focus to Olympic glory, with the women's giant slalom scheduled for Thursday at the Milano Cortina Games.
