Qatar marked its annual National Sports Day on February 10, 2026, with a massive celebration featuring over 800 sporting events and activities across the country, including the QOC Half Marathon and festivities at Education City.

Qatar celebrated National Sports Day on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with an unprecedented display of athletic enthusiasm as over 800 sporting events and activities took place across the nation. The annual celebration, designed to promote health, fitness, and community engagement, transformed the country into a nationwide sports festival with participation from government ministries, private organizations, schools, and community groups in all regions of Qatar.

The centerpiece event was the QOC Half Marathon 2026, which commenced at 6:00 AM on Lusail Boulevard. The race attracted professional athletes, amateur runners, families, and sports enthusiasts in a celebration of endurance and community spirit. Multiple race categories accommodated participants of all ages and abilities, including a 1km event for children aged 6-14, a 5km race for teenagers aged 15-17, and open men's and women's categories for the full half marathon distance. The early morning start allowed runners to complete their races before the day's temperatures rose.

Education City hosted a vibrant schedule of activities organized by Qatar Foundation, featuring the Education City Run: Color Edition as a highlight. This unique event combined fitness with entertainment, offering distances ranging from an 800-meter Mini Kids Dash to a challenging 10-kilometer race. Participants enjoyed colorful powder bursts, uplifting music, and an energetic festival atmosphere that emphasized fun alongside physical activity. The event welcomed runners, joggers, and walkers of all fitness levels, embodying the inclusive spirit of National Sports Day.

The Ministry of Interior organized an impressive array of over 50 sports activities at Stadium 974, the unique venue constructed from shipping containers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Activities included tactical and military competitions, physical fitness challenges, coordination exercises, and both 4km and 1km runs designed for individuals, families, and children. The diverse programming showcased the ministry's commitment to promoting active lifestyles among Qatar's population and visitors.

Aspire Zone emerged as another major hub of activity, offering structured sessions in football, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, table tennis, cycling, and group fitness classes. The Sports Day at Aspire 2026 featured activities suitable for all age groups and skill levels, from elite athletes to families seeking recreational exercise. Additional sports on offer throughout Doha included shooting, hockey, chess, padel, and even skydiving, demonstrating the extraordinary breadth of sporting opportunities available.

The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum hosted a special five-day festival running from February 8-12, with National Sports Day falling at the midpoint of the celebrations. The museum offered Olympic sports demonstrations, interactive fitness challenges, exhibitions celebrating Qatar's sporting heritage, and family-friendly activities designed to inspire the next generation of athletes. The extended festival format allowed more residents and visitors to participate in the National Sports Day experience beyond the single-day holiday.
